What You Need To Know About Richard Commins

Dundalk now has access to a new nationwide student service that has been making its way around the country. Dash (Driving All Students Home) is a service that ensures taxi drivers are compensated even when their fare is paid for by a student who does not have cash, a bank card, or a phone. Students at the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway created Dash and tested it with local cab drivers before releasing it to the public. Fives Cabs and Sevens Cabs and Coaches have supported this effort for some time, and now the Dundalk IT Student's Union has joined them. Dundalk's students will soon be able to use the service once the drivers have been added to the platform. Dash's ultimate goal is establishing a nationwide, cashless, student-run safety network.

Richard-Commins-730x486.jpg Registration is free at projectdash.ie; all students need to do is upload a picture of themselves, enter their bank card information so they can pay for cabs in an emergency, and come up with a four-digit PIN. The pupils then provide their name and Dash PIN to the taxi driver, who may look them up using a driving app. The app will execute the payment when the driver arrives at the location and verifies the fare. 'Our initiative has taken off at such a rapid rate, we are essentially racing across the nation to other universities,' said Richie Commins, the project's senior year head student. We appreciate Sevens and Fives coming up to Dundalk to back us up. By making the service accessible, the students' union has contributed significantly to the campaign's success on a national scale. The program is launching to reduce the number of unfortunate accidents that may happen when students walk home late at night because they can't afford a cab.

Trust me; I know how simple it is to forget to leave yourself enough cash to travel back to your place. This DASH initiative seems like a great way to protect at-risk youngsters.
